The Risk Center Steering Committee consists of elected members and is the strategic body of the Center.
The current five members of the Steering Committee include representatives from four different departments of the ETH Zurich.
PROF. DR. BOZIDAR STOJADINOVIC
Chair of Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering (D-BAUG)
Bozidar Stojadinovic works on engineering the seismic risk of inhabited communities. This involves the development of probabilistic performance-based seismic design and evaluation methods applicable to individual structures as well as to interconnected sets of structures and infrastructure.
PROF. DR. PAUL EMBRECHTS
Professor of Mathematics (D-MATH)
Paul Embrechts studies concepts, techniques and tools of Quantitative Risk Management, applied mainly (but not solely) to the financial industry (insurance and banking). The modeling of extreme events, both in size and interdependence, is a key aspect of the mathematical research carried out at RiskLab.
PROF. DR. ANTOINE BOMMIER
Chair of Integrative Risk Management and Economics (D-MTEC)
Antoine Bommier works on the economic analysis of interdependent risks and risks with long-term consequences. This involves the development of methods to analyze the cost of such risks and to initiate innovative strategies to mitigate them and develop efficient insurance schemes.
PROF. DR. HANS RUDOLF HEINIMANN
Chair of Land Use Engineering (D-USYS)
Hans Rudolf Heinimann’s research interest is the design and continuous improvement of land use systems, including natural hazard disruptions. His recent work emphasizes spatially explicit optimization of land use activities, socio-technical interactions within complex infrastructure systems, and system optimization for resilience.
